Sylwia Maruszczak-Płuciennik      

I was born on September 2, 1988, in Opole Lubelskie, in a body called by my parents, Agnieszka Sylwia Maruszczak, to become several years later Sylwia Agnieszka Maruszczak-Płuciennik. In 2004-2008, I attended Józef Chełmoński Secondary School of Art in Nałęczów. In 2009-2012, studied at Casimir Pulaski Technical University of Radom in Radom at the Faculty of Arts. In 2012, in the department supervised by Andrzej Wyszyński, Ph.D., I obtained a bachelor’s degree majoring in interior design. In the same year I began graduate studies at Casimir Pulaski University of Technology and Humanities in Radom majoring in media arts and visual education. Under the supervision of Apolloniusz Stanisław Węgłowski, Prof. Assoc., I performed completed my studies by painting a series of paintings. In 2014 I was granted the title of Master of Arts.

At the moment I focus on painting, although when I obtained the bachelor’s degree I performed several interior designs. Interior design in some way is still a part of my life, although it is more related to giving advice than designing in itself. Painting, in contrast to the design, gives me a sense of freedom, which is very important to me. That is why my works are not related to each in style, but in the topic, which allows me to freely operate through artistic means. I am interested in colours and in light. My paintings create realistic forms, which result in abstract compositions. I put juicy colours in juxtaposition to gain clarity of my images. To achieve the desired effect I splash, spill, scratch and smear. But regardless what tools and techniques I use, every spot, scratch, has its specific place on my canvas. Travel, nature and music are inspirations for my painting. My paintings are in private hands in Poland and abroad, among others in Mexico.

Besides painting, I made a few photographic series, short films and stories. I collect my works somewhere in a deep drawer in the hope that someday I will improve it and show it to people.

Education:

2004-2008- Józef Chełmoński Secondary School of Art in Nałęczów. Obtaining the title of a visual artist specialising in functional forms and furniture.

2009-2012- full-time first degree studies at Casimir Pulaski Technical University of Radom in Radom – majoring in interior design.

2012- Defence of the thesis in interior design in Andrzej Wyszyński, Prof. Assoc., department. Obtaining a bachelor’s degree.

2012-2014- second-degree full-time studies at Casimir Pulaski University of Technology and Humanities in Radom – majoring in media art and visual education.

2014- Defence of the thesis in painting under the supervision of Apoloniusz Stanisław Węgłowski, Prof. Assoc. Obtaining the title of Master of Arts.
